Getting Ready for Performances

Performance season is right around the corner! This is an exciting time that our dancers and staff have been working very hard towards. Taking a few minutes to get your performance items ready ahead of time will help your stage day run smoothly.

Night Before: Double check you have everything

  • all your costume pieces

  • all your accessory pieces ( if applicable)

  • hair accessory (if applicable)

  • clean, hole and run free tights

  • back up pair of tights

  • both shoes

  • any dance under garments and socks needed ( if applicable)

  • tutu are steamed out ( if applicable)

  • hair and make up supplies

Performance Day: Things to keep in mind as you get ready

  • Get ready as much as you can at home ( hair, make up and tights) The dressing rooms are very busy. Ideally you should just be taking off your jacket/cover up with your costume already on or slipping your costume on quickly when you arrive.

  • Put a pair of leggings over top of tights to help keep them clean while getting to the theatre

  • Avoid sweats pants or fuzzy leggings as they can leave fuzzies all over tights

  • Button up shirts, zip up sweaters, onesies and house coats are great ways to cover up costumes without having to pull anything over hair and make up.

  • Please make sure you allow yourself enough time to park and walk in

  • If your travel plan brings you across the bridge please be sure you give yourself time as it does back up during peak rush hours or if there is an accident

  • No nail polish on fingers or temporary tattoos

  • No jewellery ( small stud earrings or sleeper hoops are okay)

Things to Bring with You: You don’t need to pack a large bag to bring with you!

  • Extra pair of tights

  • Your shoes

  • small make up bag ( for touch ups )

  • hair spray and comb ( for touch ups)

  • extra bobby pins

  • a few safety pins

  • Do not leave anything valuable like iPads, phones or jewellery in the dressing rooms. The studio, festival organizers and the theatre are not responsible for any lost or stolen items
